Chris Moyles was just an hour into his show when he announced to his millions of listeners that he was stepping down from his breakfast show.
And later this morning it was revealed that Nick Grimshaw will be stepping in as Breakfast show host in September.
The official announcement from Radio 1 is set to come later today although it was initially thought Greg James would take the prestigious early morning slot.
Chris, who's headed up the breakfast show for an impressive eight years, explained that it was time to go and let someone else have a go.
He continued to explain that at the moment, there aren't any rumours in the press about him quitting or being sacked, so that it felt like the right time to go.
Chris Moyles went on to reassure listeners that he won't be leaving the breakfast show straight away, but will be around for a few weeks yet.
He concluded by saying that presenting the breakfast show has been the 'best three hours' of his day.
He said: "I know that's sad, but I am a sad radio geek."
As if that wasn't enough emotion, Chris then went on to play Take That's Never Forget which frankly was too much.
We're going to have to reapply our mascara. Don't go, Chris.
