Celebs flock to Twitter to congratulate Jessica Ennis and Andy Murray on their Olympic wins

After being defeated by Roger Federer only weeks ago at Wimbledon, Andy Murray has gone on to win a gold medal at the Olympics today when he once again faced the world number one. Yesterday also saw an astonishing performance in the heptathlon from Jessica Ennis, winning her first ever gold medal.

Team omg! have been absolutely loving the Olympics these last two weeks and couldn't be more proud of all of our medallists from Team GB.

But we have to admit, we have a particular soft spot for Murray and Ennis.

And it's not just us who have been filled with pride by these two Olympians.  Celebrities have also taken to twitter to send their congratulations.

Newlywed Rochelle Humes congratulated Murray on his win tweeting: "Well done to Andy Murray!! :) Bet the atmosphere in Wimbledon is electric! Well deserved! #Team GB"

Rochelle's' bandmate Mollie King, who has been a keen supporter of the Olympics throughout the tournament, also tweeted her support posting: "Unbelievable!! What a champ and come back to Wimbledon!!! GB is the best country in the world! Oh YES!"

Sky sports presenter Georgie Thompson gushed over the tennis pro's incredible performance saying: "You absolutely deserved that @andy_murray. Inspired, brilliant and best of all British!"

Cheryl Cole, who had previously tweeted Tom Daley following his fourth place performance in the men's synchronised diving, shared her pride over Jessica Ennis' win posting: "Congratulations @jess_ennis you did your country proud!"

Rizzle Kicks may have been a bit late on the uptake but still felt the need to congratulate Jess on her win tweeting: "Sending a late but great shout out to Jessica Ennis #Team GB #Gold"

McFly's Harry Judd also got in on the action, branding Ennis and 10,000m gold winner Mo Farah as 'inspirational', tweeting: "I really hope children/teenagers now use @j_ennis and @Mo.Farah as their role models for the future. #inspirational
