Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, 5ive and B*Witched reunite for ‘The Big Reunion,’ we get nostalgic

Get ready to relive the cheesy pop music of the late nineties and the early noughties as TV show ‘The Big Reunion’ began filming earlier today.

The ITV2 show has reunited some of the biggest names in UK 90s pop including Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, B*Witched and 5ive.

Between them, this lot are responsible for a shed load of guilty pleasures.

The show will comprise of eight one hour long episodes which will follow the reunited groups as they embark on rehearsing for their first performances together since splitting.

So brace yourself for a whole lot of tears, tantrums and (in some cases) terrible singing.

Here are the groups we are most looking forward to seeing:

Atomic Kitten

After Kerry Katona left the band in 2001, Atomic Kitten members Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon enlisted new member Jenny Frost. Following Katona’s departure, the band went from strength to strength scoring several number ones including ‘Whole Again,’ ‘The Tide is High’ and ‘Eternal Flame’.

It is therefore somewhat strange then that the girls have now reunited with Kerry instead of Jenny. This will make for some interesting watching and potentially painful listening.

Known for their love of double denim, Irish dancing and lyrics that didn’t really make any sense, B*Witched hit the big time in 1998 with debut single ‘C’est Le Vie’.

After four years together, the girl group disbanded with sisters Edele and Keavy attempting to re-launch themselves as a duo called the Barbarellas in 2011. Considering they are now back with their original band mates, you can probably guess how well the sisters fared commercially.

Liberty X

Runners up on TV show Popstars, Liberty X formed as a rival band to winners Hear’Say.

After successfully outlasting Hear’Say, Liberty X went on to score ten top twenty singles. The band are best known for their number one hit ‘Just a Little’ in which they famously donned some very tight PVC cat suits for the video. We wonder if they’ll be pulling the suits out of retirement for one last time. Let’s hope so.

Garnering chart success with singles such as ‘We Will Rock You,’ ‘Every Body Get Up’ and ‘Let’s Dance,’ 5ive’s mix of catchy pop vocals and ‘edgy’ (we use this term very loosely) rap was a recipe for success back in the late nineties.

The boys eventually went their separate ways in 2001. Unfortunately J Brown decided he wouldn’t be taking part in the show meaning that 5ive have now become 4our.
