Alesha Dixon nearly was an Olympian. That definitely would have glammed up the 100m.

Alesha Dixon reckons that if she wasn't a singer, she would definitely have been a professional athlete and perhaps, even flown the flag for Britain in the upcoming Olympics.

We wish she had, it certainly would have made the 100m far more glam.

Speaking to Look magazine, the singer admits: "Before I got into music, I studied sport and used to run for my county."

Yeah, well we smashed the egg and spoon race in Year Three so totes know what she is talking about…

However, while we had Take That and 911 (remember them?!) up on our walls, the former Strictly judge opted for a more unlikely teenage hero.

She says: "I idolised former sprint and hurdling champion Colin Jackson when he was at the peak of his athletics career, and at the age of 15 I was training at the Gosling Stadium in Welwyn Garden City when he came to visit."

Can say we were into hurdlers ourselves, but each to their own, eh?

She continued: "Colin was lovely. He spoke to us for ages and I got to watch him on the field. I dreamed of becoming a professional athlete."

However, eventually she end up making the leap (no pun intended) from the running on the track to recording tracks and aren't we glad she did?

Lucky for us, she is planning a new album and will be back soon with some super exciting new material.

Alesha says: "I'm back in the studio again now and am excited.  I haven't released anything since the beginning of 2011. There'll be a single first, but I'm making an album, too."

Plus, she revealed that she has been asked to return to Britain's Got Talent and she is most definitely saying yes.

'Would I do it again? They've asked me to and I really want to, so yes!'
