It read: "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! The tearful group took to the stage as a five piece for the last time last night, posting an emotional farewell message on their official Twitter account thanking fans for their support of the past ten years.
"This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade.
"It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!!
"Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots."
All five members of the group looked tearful as they sang their last song on stage, hugging each other before the end of the number.
Before going on stage that evening, Cheryl Cole hinted the end of the band was in sight with a series of cryptic tweets.She posted: “Last show !!! When did that happen ??! It was just 5 minutes ago we were starting rehearsals! Feel like I've been in a time machine.
“And now we're here !! One of my favourite places ever for the last show !! Liverpool!!! LETS GOOOOO...
“To the people that haven't been able to make it, for what ever reason, we feel your support regardless and have done for 10 yrs..
“To the people that have been to almost as many shows as we have lol let's make this a celebration of the past 10 years (sic)"
The group, who originally formed in 2002 on show Popstars: The Rivals, went on hiatus in 2009.
The girls then reformed in November last year releasing a greatest hits album and announcing their reunion tour to celebrate their tenth anniversary together.
It was reported last year that the girls had made a pact to keep their split a secret until the conclusion of their tour.
