One Direction appear to have the Midas touch, but their recent success in the States may be set to be overshadow after missing out on a Teen Choice Award to fellow British band, The Wanted.
The first wave of Teen Choice Awards 2012 nominations have just been announced and One Direction are notably absent.

The Wanted, who have also proved popular in the US, have made the shortlist of acts in the Choice Music Group category but Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne have failed to feature.
The band who comprise of Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kansewaran and Max George will have to fight off competition from Selena Gomez and the Scene, Gym Class Heroes, Lady Antebellum and LMFAO.
We're holding out that One Direction will make it in the second sweep of contenders —there can't be a celebrity award show without them!
Justin Bieber dominated nominations with a staggering five nods including Choice Male Artist, Choice Single for Boyfriend, Choice Fashion Icon, Choice Male Hottie and Choice Twit.
It also comes as no surprise that Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 scored three nominations although The Vampire Diaries squashed the film franchise's success with a staggering six nods.
It's not like Adele needs anymore silverware in her trophy cabinet, but she's also up for Choice single for Set Fire To the Rain.
The awards take place on 22 July — diarise this date immediately!
