Kate Winslet is definitely a royally good actor, so it was no surprise that Queen Elizabeth II has awarded the actress a CBE for her services to drama. However, when acting royalty met real royalty, they found themselves chatting about something quite unexpected...
Kate Winslet, one of the most critically acclaimed actresses of our time, has admitted to the Daily Mail that she was overjoyed to meet the Queen for the first time ever:
"It was such an honour to meet the Queen, it was my first time."
And it appears that the feeling was mutual, as Queen Liz admitted to the 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless MInd' star that she was "delighted" to have met her too:
"She told me that she was delighted to be presenting me with my award and then asked whether I liked my job. I told her that I loved it but I love being a mum even more."
"The Queen said ‘Yes, that’s the only job which matters.’ What a genuinely lovely thing to say! And I couldn’t agree with her more."
That's right - adorably, the Queen and Kate talked about being mummies when they met for the first time at the ceremony. Maybe there's time for Kate Winslet to replace Miss Middleton as Queen Elizabeth II's favourite Kate of all yet.
In the meantime, we'd like to bestow a hearty congratulations on Kate Winslet for her CBE - we can't think of a more deserving actress!
