The bumper pay cheque follows an amazing twelve months for the band who have not only earned their status as the UK's premier boy band but have also conquered the notoriously difficult US market.
According to Now, all that hard work has paid off with the boys said to have earned an incredible £40 million in a year after selling 12 million records, proving that coming third on the X Factor doesn't matter one bit!

Following the massive success of their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful', in March 1D made history when they became the first ever British group to go straight to No 1 in America with their debut album 'Up All Night'. Then there were the sell-out tours, not to mention picking up a couple of coveted VMAs last week.
Despite working hard and banking millions, the band are not going to be resting up for the rest of the year. Their new single 'Live While We're Young' is due for release on September 30 and is already one of the most anticipated tracks of the year.
The track, which was announced last month, has not even had its radio premiere yet, and is a virtual certainty for Number 1.
