We had Christmas lunch with the cheeky chappy yesterday and he told us that he would be SO CHUFFED to beat Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh to number one this weekend.
He grinned and told us: "It would be amazing".
But the Essex boy, whose single 'Troublemaker' is outselling the Children In Need charity single 'Something New' by around 30,000 copies, has a conscious about beating them.
He said: "I feel a bit bad about the fact that theirs is for charity" before we told him not to be so silly.
And we ended up punching the air with him and declaring ourselves #TeamOlly (as you do when you've been on the mulled wine at lunchtime).
It was also pointed out that it would be ironic if he pipped Cheryl Cole to the top spot, after she was a judge on his year of X Factor.

Olly's single success so far this week comes off the back of him performing on the famous X Factor stage last weekend.
And he remarked that he was petrified he was going to take a tumble down the flight of stairs during his performance.
He told us: "Every week Caroline Flack takes the mickey out of me for my fall at GuilFest. And I could just see her saying that this week they had footage of me falling at the X Factor."
But the cutie, whose new album 'Right Place, Right Time' is out this month, made it down the stairs successfully and even got a SNOG from a girl wearing no trousers.
And the naughty one revealed that in rehearsals he hadn't actually meant to get a full on kiss from the dancer but that that he'd requested it. Good for him!
Olls told us that he'd almost caused problems with the girl and her boyfriend after he insisted they went for a smooch.
He said: "I heard her after on the phone to him saying. It wasn't planned!"
And just to prove that his cheeky factor is stronger than ever Olly joked with us that she wasn't just wearing no trousers - but no knickers either.
