Yesterday Justin Timberlake made an announcement on Twitter that hinted at his return to music.
Naturally we were very excited considering it has been six years since Justin’s last album ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds.’
Taking to Twitter yesterday, the singer simply wrote: “Thursday, January 10th, 2013 at 9:01 am PST...”
Following this announcement we were pretty sure that JT would be posting a new track today.
True to his word, Justin Timberlake logged on to his official account earlier posting a link alongside the words: “To whom it may concern...I think I'M READY!”
However, instead of a brand new track, the link took us to a minute long video of Justin walking through a building which turned out to be a recording studio.
Justin Timberlake then explains in a voice over why it has taken him six years to return to music.
He says: “Someone asked me the other day, 'so are you just done with music?'
“It means more to me than anybody else in the world.
“Look, I’ve only done two albums in ten years- that’s the way I really look at it. What does the next decade mean for me? I’m the one who sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it.
“As near as I get to it I don’t know if I could physically torture myself that much, year in, year out.
“And expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it does right now. I don’t want to put anything out that I feel like is something I don’t love, you just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it.”
As he reaches the recording booth, Justin simply says, ‘I’m ready,’ before the video fades to black.
So basically, Justin Timberlake’s announcement yesterday was to announce that he was returning to music- he announced an announcement!
Still, we are very excited to hear what new music Justin will be releasing later this year.
Welcome back Justin, now hurry up and get on with it.
